The owner/chef, Toki Kidera, shops for the freshest fish. Only the best meets his strict standards. The servings of Negiri sushi are generous and varied. Good but not the best
I started going to Sushi Q a few years back and had always enjoyed myself. Intimate setting, a mix of traditional decor with an eclectic twist. It did not seem to be a coincidance that the entire wait staff were slender, gorgeous and all female clad in elegant black attire. The staff was always very nice and knowlegable with their menu. Really on top of things! But.... the last couple of times I went it seemed to lack the same vibe. There was a major turnover in staff - same look - but they lacked the same personable skills and seemed a little young and naive. The timing was off and we received our salad and miso soup appetizers at the same time as our entrees. Also, I saw the chef put food in his mouth a couple of times as he was preparing the dishes and he works with his bare hands. Most of the food is very good but some of the sashimi (the raw fish) is a little dried out. I hope they improve the little details that make a big difference.    [04 Feb 2004 01:14:10]
