good food & service I've been eating there for years, most the waiters have been there for years too! Service has always been great and the food is great (we always take a box home with some leftovers)! Weekends are busy, just like any good restaurant. The bar can be busy during Karaoke nights or when live music is there, there are different crowds constantly. Try it :) [02 Aug 2002 17:08:23]

Extensive Menu, Good Value Well while I agree that sometimes there is a wait for the food, it is a popular place and the food is made to order unless you choose to try the buffet. The food is made to order and some dishes require a bit more time than others and you would want them served at the same time wouldn't you? We've had lunch, dinner, and tried the buffet several times, never disappointed. [10 Nov 2003 20:16:49]

This palce is AWFUL! After arriving at the Alamo we only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. (This is great). Once seated we waited about 10 minutes and finally we had to ask for a menu. The waiter was really rude, we assumed because we asked for a menu instead of going to the buffet.
Finally we got our menus and ordered our drinks. It took another 15 minutes to get the drinks. Once we got the drinks (one of which had to be sent back) the waiter reluctantly took our order. Once the order was taken we never saw him again (except at another table) for 45 minutes when he brought our food, luke warm.
Now maybe I am asking too much but why does it take 45 minutes to serve 2 burritos, a small salad and cinnamon nachos with ice cream and syrup. (When I sked for a sundae he said that they did not have it but then brought me the nachos with ice cream and chocolate syrup???go figure).
Needless to say, I rate this place (I will not call it a reastaurant) at the bottom of the barrel. I have been in greasy spoons that had better service, better food and nicer help.
I am a retired waitress and believe me, I have never seen such an awful place to dine. We will never go back there and by word of mouth will make sure that everyone we know will hear about this place and not ever go there. [13 Feb 2004 14:09:02]

There are better places close by ... Avoid The Alamo. The last time, my date and I were given an incorrect menu. After I understood the correct price and was all set to pay it, I was given a ton of attitude by the bartender, who must have felt some burning need to "prove something". You don't need to go here when there are places close by that have better food, have a fun atmosphere, and have friendlier service. You may not have a bad time at the Alamo every time, but believe me, it's going to happen. [09 Mar 2004 00:23:51]

Been going for years and plan to keep on. I've eaten there over a hundred times in the last five years. On rare occasions something has gone wrong with the food or service, but at least 90 times out of a hundred the service has been prompt, fun and friendly; the margaritas have been made exactly the way I wanted, and the food has been good to great. Great Family Mexican Restaurant This restaurant is busy for a reason. T hey cater to families, so if you don't like it loud and sometimes a little slow on the service side, don't go.
That being said, there's reason this place has been in business for over 20 years -- they offer very good Mexican fare and drinks and good prices.
There's a separate bar area that can get pretty wild, but it's walled off and away from the restaurant.
Get the "Award Winner" margarita, it rocks! [21 Dec 2007 18:25:35]
