Japanese Ed Debevic's
While I found this place very interesting, I can't say I'll go back. The sushi is good, not great, but I don't think the food is really the main reason people go here. This place is definitely for a young, hip crowd. Hip music is played without a break, and it's LOUD! If you were planning on having an intimate conversation with a friend -- forget it!

Waiters and waitresses sing and dance and I understand as it gets into the late hours this place really rocks. Customers are encouraged to get up and dance and make as much noise as possible. Oh yeah, and the restaurant staff greets everyone with a hearty shout. Ordering sake, be prepared for the entire joint to know. The staff shouts about that too.

Oh, and the waiter made a rude comment about my diet Coke. He mumbled, so I can't tell you what he said. But the tone was quite sarcastic. I guess I wasn't hip enough for this crowd. I think I'll live.

Anyway, back to the food. There's a $12 minimum, but that's easy to reach in a sushi bar. I enjoyed the food, but I didn't love it. If you're looking for great sushi, go to somewhere else. You'll be much more satisfied and your ears won't be ringing.    [18 Apr 2001 21:03:12]

Total Party
OK, I think the last reviewer didn't get it. You don't have to be "hip" to enjoy Tokyo Delve's. You do have to remove the uncomfortable object from any area it may have gotten stuck. The food is decent and this is such a fun place to bring a group of friends and laugh and eat and drink and have so much fun! I love it for birthdays, but we went for their Halloween night and that was a blast too. Any place where the sushi chefs sing karaoke is alright by me!    [26 Oct 2001 16:54:43]

When I Say Saki you say Bomb!
SAKI BOMB! This place is all about the saki bomb. I think it should be mandatory to do one as you walk in the door and you are guaranteed to have a good time. The food's not bad, but this place is definitely known for the atmosphere. The waiters are fun and although loud, the music is great. If you want to go out and be loud and obnoxious, this is the best place to go.    [08 Feb 2002 13:45:27]

Come For the Show, Stay For the Service!
Oh, yeah! My best friend took me to this cool place the other night. It was a roller coaster ride from the time we sat down, to the moment we said goodnight. The food was great and the atmosphere awesome. Yet the thing that impressed me most was the service. I can't tell you how many times I am disappointed by nominal at best service that "is" the standard today. Not at TD's.

My friend and I were treated to our every whim from a crackerjack server named James. This isn't his life, he told us, but that's the point -- he put eveything into making our meal a wonderful pleasure. We like to drink and James was there when we needed it. He was a riot too. A born entertainer, we were cracking up at his one-liners. I don't know how he or the others can do it night in night out, but Tokyo Delves scores big with me. I'll be back.
Great job, gang!    [16 Apr 2002 03:29:59]

Get Your Rocks Off
Okay, first off they're gonna ream you on the drinks if you're not careful, so don't be surprised when the check is something like $900. I think that's what our bill came to, and there were only about 8 of us, but as far as a party goes, there is no other place like it. Good time rock and roll, cool customer base, lots of dancing. They tell you to stay off the tables but rules were made to be broken. Just don't forget to spin the wheel of Sushi.    [11 Jun 2002 19:22:12]

Japan IN DA HOUSE!
Although I agree with most of the previously written comments, I strongly believe that if you cannot have a good time at Delves, you don't deserve to be there! The food is good, the service is great and the ambiance is better. A blast at any time with anyone!    [24 Oct 2002 06:36:20]

Tiny place but lots of fun!!!!
I went to this place for the first time and I had no idea what to expect. I heard things but when I actually went.. WOW.. it was even more crazy!! It was a little cramped in there but nonetheless.. had an awesome time! We were a group of 14 and our table had many rounds of Saki Bombs! It's loud and crazy but so were we so it suited us! Only downfall is that you only can spend 2 hours in there.. oh well.. drink as much as you can then! A great place to go crazy!    [20 Jan 2003 01:09:58]

Definitely an experience
I was taken to this restaurant for my birthday by some "friends" of mine. Food was okay, not great. The atmosphere was definitely not my cup of tea. The loud music left me hard of hearing. I couldn't help but think I was too sober to be there. But from the moment I walked in the door the mood was set, and I couldn't get into it. Be prepared to be harassed by servers, blasted with loud music. The only redeeming quality of this restaurant is its Saki Bomb. The drink is good, but the whole frat-boy "When I say Saki You Say Bomb" attitude really is a pain. I'm definitely not going back.    [08 Sep 2003 13:06:14]
