Why Change the Recipe?
Service as always is excellent: fast and friendly. We frequently went here for what we called the best fish and chips in the Bay Area. Unfortunately, they changed the recipe a few weeks ago, and the fish and chips are terrible. Where they used to serve big chunks of white fish dipped every so slightly in beer batter, they now serve minnows in gobs of peppery dough. The good news is that to date they haven't changed their baby back ribs recipe, which remains lean and tasty...oh, and generous, I always get the half rack. The ambiance is alive and noisy, but tables away from the bar area give us a chance to talk to our dinner partners. Overall, Crogans is still a good restaurant...one that we will continue to go to, but not for fish and chips.    [31 May 2002 11:40:32]
