Wonderful Food! A wonderful menu of delicious foods! Great ambiance. Has been around since 1932 so it's very authentic. Best Fried Chicken in the entire Bay Area. Superb Service! [25 Jan 2003 17:59:04]

My Compliments to the Chef! My husband and I frequent the restaurant because of the food. His favorite is the "fried chicken" and mine is the chicken and/or veal cutlet. The sauce is outstanding that accompanies the chicken....I've tried to duplicate it at home to no avail! The portions are more than generous for the price. As far as ambiance, I wish that there would be music while dining, perhaps a piano? The service is usually prompt and the servers are polite, friendly with an "aim to please"! We rate this restaurant four stars! [21 Jun 2003 14:38:35]

Great food but watch-out for moody service We went two Saturdays in a row - the first visit terrific, left with big smiles on our faces, the second we couldn't wait to get out of there! The food was very good both times - but we had a waitress the second visit who ruined our appetites. She mishandled the wine and lied to us about what we were drinking (wouldn't show us the bottle!), bullied my 75-pound mother into ordering more than she could possibly eat (over my questioning) and just seemed to want the table or want us out of there. She got it - we'll never be back. [28 Jul 2003 11:44:26]

Lousy Service, Ok Food Went there on a Sunday night. Were rudely met by a snooty hostess. Our waitress took 20 minutes to bring our drinks and take our order. Brought our food and ignored us the rest of the evening. Could only have gotten her attention by screaming across the room which I am not one to do. Took a half hour after we finished eating to finally be able to flag down a busboy to get our check. They are lucky we didn't walk out without paying as it would have been very easy since we were obviously invisible. Food was overpriced and bland. Very expensive...I have had better service at McDonalds. [18 Aug 2003 11:04:50]

My first and last dining experience I was a first time visitor and last time visitor at the Casa Orinda. My restaurant experience was fantastic once I got past the manager at the front desk. The food and service was perfect. If it was not for the young gentleman serving me, I would have walked out on the check. As long as that manager/host is there, I will not return to that restaurant. Bad Service 12 people in our party, We had reservations for 7:30, we were there at 7:15, the table was ready, the restaurant was not full, the manager said "You'll be seated at 7:30", clearly there was to be no discussion, she turned her back. The waitress ignored us, seemed to not want to work. Eight of 12 people didn't think they're orders were worth it, bad bad experience. [13 Apr 2004 01:36:23]

great food lousy hostess or manager whatever Went there last Saturday night. Had a horrible time at the front door. A freind recommended the "Casa", so my wife made reservations. We arrived at 7:00 and were VERY RUDELY greeted by a large woman with black hair.I asked her her name and she said VIVIAN, and told me she was the general manager. She sat us down and practically threw the menus at us. The service was good and freindly and the food was really good. But we won't be back. Who wants to come here , when we can go somewhere else and be greeted with respect? I told my freind who recommended this place, and he said oh, yeah, I forgot to tell you about her. [10 May 2004 15:42:23]

Encore, encore... Our family took my mother to Casa Orinda for her birthday. The hostess was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was full on a Saturday night before 7:00 PM. There was six people at our table but our waiter was polite, efficient and always there when we needed him.
Now on to the food, the majority of the party ate salads which were very large for a before dinner salad. My parents shared one salad between them, but that caused no problem for the kitchen. I had the soup which was a meaty, tasty minestone with lots of vegetables, pasta and meat in every spoon full. The soup was so filling I had it put in a cup to bring home. Dinner was delicious everyone but me had the fried chicken, mashed potates, broccoli, homemade biscuits, gravy and honey. The chicken I tasted was outstanding, melt in your mouth good. I decided on the chicken cutlet with mashed potates, broccoli and country gravy. What a treat-tender and sweet, easy to cut with a fork. The whole experience was one that my husband and I will experience many more times. [19 Sep 2004 02:27:38]
