Siam Orchid in Orinda Is Simply Delicious - SF Gate, B.S., 1 May 1998; San Francisco Chronicle - suggest change

Great Spot Orinda has several restaurants, from casual meaning no tie to very casual which means come as you are as long as you don't smell bad. In each case, they are WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET. A look through the window or door, a glance at the menu, and your own judgement will work fine. None of them are BAD. Siam Orchid is one of about 2 or maybe 3 exceptions. What you SEE is a restaurant in a small mall with a glass window with increasingly lovely decor, all tables full. It is what you see and MORE. The food is delicious, the service is good, the hosts are friendly and are proud to be from the city Lamphun in Thialand which is one of Orinda's two Sister Cities. They know how to cook, nothing is greasy, and they accommodate special requests.
The ratings categories imply flaws if a place was not the Best Place on Earth. There are no flaws. It's just not that kind of restaurant. Take the family and enjoy. [07 Jan 2003 14:28:00]

I agree with the previous reviewer's opinion. Siam Orchid just opened a larger, prettier restaurant right next door to their old place. You can still look through the windows but the decor is great. [08 Jun 2004 01:21:04]

The Standard! My family has been going to Siam Orchid since it first opened in its small, original location. As others have said, the service is friendly, the food is fresh, and their new location (next door to the original restaurant) is classy, warm and inviting.
Siam Orchid is the standard by which we measure all other Thai restaurants--and it always wins. [31 Aug 2005 20:44:26]

Most Interesting Thai in These Parts The busy owners hail from Lamphun, near Chiang Mai in northeren Thailand. Their food reflects that heritage plus much more. There are innovative dishes I've not seen in other Thai restaurants. [10 May 2006 16:08:53]
