Okay Food, Bad Service While the food at Evvia is quite good (except the moussaka -- tastes like nutmeg and nothing else), we have had some of the worst service here of any other restaurant in the price range. The waiter we had last night seemed like he had better places to be, and he literally threw our dessert menus down without asking if we'd like coffee or tea. This was after he'd forgotten the wine (and not apologized or even acknowledged it when we had to ask twice) and showed no interest in whether we'd gotten our food, which took a loooong time. He spent most of his time standing by the bar with a bunch of other waiters; most of the activity in the room was busboys moving around. We cut our losses, skipped dessert and coffee, and headed across the street for some gelato. Frankly, although the lamb chops are fabulous, I cannot recommend a place that hires such lousy waitstaff. I've Had Good Experiences Here I have found the food and service to be consistantly good. The decor is very cozy and unique. The appetizers taramosalata, melitzanosalata or tzatziki, and spanakotiropita are favorites. Psari psito ia another favorite. I don't recall being wild about their desserts. Probably a little overpriced, but for a special occasion it's worth it. More California than Greek, but has a nice feel. [28 Dec 2007 00:39:15]
