Beadle's Cafeteria-Pasadena We were in town for the day and found this cafeteria that we were told was a landmark since 1956. It was a nice surprise as there just are not too many cafeterias left around. It was nice and they had a good selection and choices to pick from. The manager, an older lady, was quite friendly and very nice to talk to.
I had the sliced turkey which was excellent and very moist with mashed potatoes and gravy. I also had a yummy jello salad with coconut sprinkled on top, also excellent. For dessert I had a piece of coconut white cake which was also very good. The surroundings of the cafe were pleasant and not overdone by any standards. It was quite comfortable as their air was on and just the right temperature. Overall I must say it was a nice lunch and I would enjoy returning to them in the near future. I had no complaints whatsoever. It was also nice to enjoy a meal in a "quiet" place. [29 Jun 2004 20:49:06]

Beadles closes its doors, last week of Oct. 2006 I have been dining at Beadle's since 2003. When I was first going there, the food was good, the service was also good, and the prices very fair.
In the beginning of 2006 Beadle's changed hands, and sadly the food and service rapidly declined. Three weeks ago on Friday, Oct. 13th, I dined there for lunch. I had the roast turkey, which was adequate, carved as always from a roasted turkey on the cafeteria line. The meat was a little drier than usual, and the dressing and cranberry sauce were not up to usual standards. There were only a few patrons dining there, and none of the usual crowd, except for one senior gentleman, who is always there at lunch time.
The service was "okay", but nothing to brag about. Most of the help was new, or appeared to be, with most of the regulars missing.
Sadly, Beadle's closed its doors, probably for the last time last week. The cafeteria that it used to be will be sorely missed, by all the regulars who used to frequent it. [02 Nov 2006 19:57:03]
