Fresh seafood, done right.
On a recent drive up the coast to visit family we stumbled into the Cracked Crab and onto a Pismo treasure. We started by splitting a crab louis salad made with a wonderful selection of fresh greens and big old clumps of fresh crab. An absolutely wonderful start if you are interested in balancing your diet. Once finished with our salads it was time for our main course which was the "Big Bucket", It was un-real!! Although there was effort involved in obtaining the fruits of our labor we had a blast working for it and when all was said and done, we ate absolutely every edible piece of food on our table. The fact of the matter is; although I live over 100 miles away, I find myself making excuses to visit again. I can't wait.    [31 May 2004 00:21:47]

very fun and laid back atmosphere...you have to try the "Big Bucket" lots of food for two people(we couldn't finish it all), with excellent but not pushy service. will definitely go back on my next trip!!    [22 May 2005 19:37:57]

Go For It!!!
The food at The Cracked Crab is outstanding..I'm like everyone else...try that "Big Bucket"...mmmm..mmmm..GOOD! You get whole red potatoes steamed in the bucket as well as steamed corn-on-the-cob and your choice of 3 different kinds of crab they will also fill your bucket with! Lots of food and well worth the ride from Tulare Calif. to get some of it! I say "Go For It!"    [08 May 2007 14:31:56]

Crab Bisque
The Crab Bisque is the best part of the dining experience. You'll want to take a bath in it, so order a bowl!    [11 Jan 2008 17:41:02]

Whatta Great Find!
Like some other reviewers, we happened upon the Cracked Crab and are so glad we did. It was really yummy. I had a soft shell crab sandwich and my husband had fish tacos. Both dishes are recommended.

I would certainly make it a point to stop here again, preferably for dinner so we could share the Big Bucket, as it sounds not only amazing but a memorable experience. The service was great and the owner made it a point to say hello, which is always a good thing in my book. The restaurant was clean, nicely decorated (love the crab chairs) and well situated near the beach. You know the crabs are fresh because they are there in their tanks looking scared. ;o)

I cannot wait to go back!!!    [11 Mar 2008 15:05:56]
