The Mecca Cafe's Mexican food is known throughout California as one of the best down home Mexican restaurants. The owner has catered numberous parties with the Oakland A's, Raiders, Forty-Niners, Giants, etc. The Pittsburg location is not the best, but is always busy. Don't miss the opportunity to eat here. Happy Bride When planning a wedding, surprises with cost and ease are not usually good ones. With New Mecca, I was pleasantly surprised by cost, service, quality and quantity of food. Any bride should look into New Mecca for catering needs. [14 Mar 2002 16:48:37]

Need Better Customer Service.... The Food is good, but poor customer service. I went in there with my boyfriend and all the girls were just glaring me down and talking about me. That was the last time I was going to eat in the restaurant. Another thing, when I call to make an order, they just pick up the phone and put it down. They don't even tell me to hold or anything. I had to assume that I had to hold. If the food wasn't so good, I would have never returned back. [07 Jun 2003 22:13:02]

The Absolute Best Ever I love Mexican food and I can say without any embellishment that this was by far the greatest Mexican food I have ever tasted. Everything is made fresh, food was brought to me 5-10 minutes after I ordered it, and it was steaming hot and delicious. The prices are out of this world.
Also, I am using this company to cater my wedding and I couldn't be happier, their prices are 1/3 of all the other catering companies. I don't know what the person up above was thinking when they evaluated their service. This restaurants service was second to none, moved very fast and was very friendly. [20 Nov 2003 18:12:18]

Good stuff Really good food. I come home from AZ and the first place I go is the Mecca. Everyone agrees that this is the Mexican food place that cannot be beaten. The place has a character all its own. [26 Dec 2003 13:41:20]

One of a kind Been eating at the New Mecca for 45 years. Have eaten all over the country and none compares in Mexican food to the New Mecca. I get that mouth watering taste for Chilaquiles on approach to Oakland Airport and it's straight to the Mecca upon arrival.I wish I could get their food catered to Az. [25 Jan 2004 21:26:35]

I absolutely love the New Mecca Cafe. Not only is the food and service excellent, but also the restaurant is very community oriented. I've been to several youth oriented activities in Pittsburg and the surrounding area where The Mecca has catered for free. Also, as a student of Pittsburg High School, I've enjoyed many free lunches donated to the Academic Achievement Luncheons. I even recall the owner, his name escapes me now, giving a small speech about the importance of higher education, especially for minority students, the short story of his daughter going to college was one more motivation for me as a high school student to go to college as well. This restaurant definitely deserves accolades for its support of the upward mobility of its minority community members. One last thing I love about The Mecca, the bumper sticker, and “Say NO to drugs...Burritos, YES!”.... Need I say more? [10 Feb 2004 13:14:46]

The best Upon returning from a mini vacation in Vancouver BC., at the border crossing back into the States, the patrolman asked where we were form. We told him Antioch, CA. and he said we don't talk to the people in Pittsburg. I, of course, told him we have to because we go to "The Mecca" on occasion. The Border guard shocked us with "Don't they have just the greatest Mexican food there?" 'nuff said. For the greatest Mexican food, there is no other place to go. We now live in Las Vegas, and when the kids come down for a visit, it's mandatory for them to bring some Mecca food with them. :) [04 Dec 2004 12:12:04]

Best Mexican Food I have been a big fan of the New Mecca Cafe since I was a young boy. I grew up with the owners youngest son, Alberto, so it's in my soul. I brought some friends from Southern California to try out our Mexican Cuisine (they claim that Southern California has the best Mexican food) and I loved when they first tasted the free bean dip and chips, they absolutely stopped in their tracks. They then complained that isn't it enough that Northern California already had the 5-time Super bowl Champions 49'ers, The World Champions Oakland A's and De La Salle High School football team?
