The Taste of Taco Was Never Better
A deep-fried fantasy. A culinary dream come true. In my lifelong quest for the perfect food, my Mecca, or X marks the spot on the treasure map, would be Esther's Taco House. Great Place
We eat at Esther's about once a week and it is always great. The prices are exceptional, the food even better and the beer is ICE cold. Salsa is fresh made everyday (I know because you can see them making it). Service could be better during the rush times but the food is always fresh, hot and delicious. The place is no pretty no frills but you definately get your money worth, (dinner for two including a pitcher of beer for under $20!) You just can't beat this place. The only drawback is they are closed on Sundays, other than that you can't go wrong here.    [07 Oct 2004 14:57:10]

Worlds Best Chile Relleno
I have searched all over the U.S. to find a better "CR" than Esther's. I have stopped. I now drived 60+ miles to enjoy the best. I grew up in Esther's in Downey, now moved to Placentia. I will follow her (spirit) to the ends of the earth. Sometimes I even have the carnitas or Chile Verde!

Old Timer
I have been going to Esthers since the early 60's, when they started in Downey.
I remember when they had a 6-8 stool walk up counter and that was it. They had a steady line of customers, mostly from the Rockwell plant in Downey. I was happy to see them in Placentia, as the old store, really slowed down when Rockwell went away. I knew Esther and her daughters, and its good to see nothing has changed, except for the better, meaning bigger and more room to serve people. Keep up the good work Linda.    [22 Dec 2005 10:13:17]

Best Chicken taco/enchilada in Cali
The food is excellent from the chips and salsa to your meal. The food is authentic, not Americanized. I recommend anything with Chicken. The Tacos and chicken enchiladas are to die for.
