Wonderful food! Wonderful Atmosphere!
Our family went here on a Friday night and the place was jumping! My two kids and I split a medium pizza and it was more than enough. It was so good! You can watch the pizza makers toss the pizzas at the front of the restaurant. My wife got an excellent pasta dish that had fettucini with prawns. On top of this, the service was great, the atmosphere was very pleasant, and the prices were definitely affordable. There's no doubt we'll be back!    [16 Jan 2004 22:13:03]

Melo's in Pleasant Hill
My family and friends think this is the best all around place for pizza and other Italian food in our area. The pizzas are generous, fresh everything, and my favorite is Neopolitan without anchovies. It has wonderful pimentos, and tomatoes on it. Their crusts are amazing, in that they are crunchy in part, and the part at the edge is chewy and delicious. My husband's favorite dish there is Lasagna Verde. We also love the Eggplant Mélanges. We many times get the food to go, they include wonderful fresh bread and butter. The restaurant itself is immaculately clean; the staff is friendly and very efficient. The atmosphere is upscale friendly. They have delicious soup also. Melo's is the BEST in Contra Costa County, period! Beginning in the 1970s, this used to be a little hole-in-the-wall kind of place with absolutely killer pizza. Through word of mouth among students at Diablo Valley College, the place became more and more popular. Today, anyone who's been to Melo's over the years knows the place has grown into a full-blown restaurant that is busy after 5 pm EVERY NIGHT! It's ALWAYS GREAT at Melo's!!!! Our New Favorite... Melo's!
Wow! Our years-long quest for good Italian food has finally proved fruitful. To find an establishment with items such as Agnolotti Trastevere and Gnocchi Bolognese on the everyday menu is such a breath of fresh air. I understand that these folks are best known for their wonderful pizza, but one cannot overlook the wide variety of CLASSIC Italian offerings. Rich & vivid flavors... Generous portion sizes... Exemplary service... Pleasant atmosphere... Bravo Melo's!!! Our only grumble was regarding the televisions placed throughout, but that won't be near enough to keep us away.    [08 Feb 2004 23:20:59]

I went there for the first time this weekend. I'm a vegetarian and often have to read through the whole menu at some places just to find one thing I can eat.

Tradition and stubborn adherence to quality!
Melo's Pizza has been my favorite restaurant since I was a kid. I remember when Melo's was in a small 2 business building which has grown into Melo's Plaza! The quality of their deli goods on their pizzas is superb and they don't skimp. All of their dishes show the same dedication to style and quality.
