Excellent but not the best in San Diego Lots of people will tell you that Bronx Pizza is the best pizza in San Diego, but I'd say it's only in the top ten. Still, this is a great pizza joint not unlike the typical New York variety, it's open late, slices are available all the time, and the taste is right, but not perfect. Surprisingly, Bronx Pizza seems to appeal more to the non-New Yorker raised on crap pizza than it does to the purebred New York pizza aficionado; I've never taken anyone here who did not rave about it. Great pizza, but... Excellent pizza, VERY BAD service! I for sure recommend this place, they have one of the best to-go pizzas in town and as close to the real Bronx pizza as you will ever get on the west coast. My only complaint is the service. Not sure if bad service is part of the atmosphere and the image they want to have, but you have to recognize bad service when you see it. As soon as you walk in, you better know exactly what you want; otherwise, you will be looked at from top to bottom with annoyance by a humongous Italian guy that thinks he works for Tony Soprano. If service and pleasantness are not your thing, then this pizza is highly recommended. [04 May 2007 23:19:33]
