Best of the Best
Dianda's has been around forever. When I was very young about 8 (now I am 44) my father used to buy their Italian Rum cakes for special occasions. This was the most wonderful treat. I have long since then moved from California, but every time I go back for a visit, Dianda's Italian American Pastry on Mission St. is one of my first stops when I arrive and is my last stop before heading home. Each time I leave San Francisco I have to stop and take at least 4 cakes home with me to share. This has been an ongoing tradition for our family that I have even passed on down to my children. The flavor of their Italian Rum cakes are just wonderful and so moist that they melt in your mouth.    [02 Nov 2005 23:45:03]

Incredible St. Honore Cake!
What a beautiful cake. I got this for my birthday last month, having it for the first time . . . WOW!! It's the best cake I've ever had! Oh, my . . . the cream puffs, the rum creme and sponge cake . . . TOTAL FOODGASM!

The other pastries at this bakery looked fantastic, as well, and they are very busy, very nice. Go there . . .    [06 Dec 2007 21:51:35]

OHMYGOD!
This is THE only true Italian bakery left in San Francisco. Don't think less of it just because it's in the Mission. If you do try Dianda's, you MUST go early in the morning, or you will not have the benefit of trying their best items. They sell so fast, every day, that you should ask them to hold something for you a day in advance if you can't get there early. If you want to practice your Italian, you can chat with the Italian staff who create these tasty wonders. I have had my birthday cakes made there for years!    [06 Mar 2008 18:12:48]
