EXCELLENT
I thought this restaurant was excellent. I had the lentil loaf-type dish with red beet sauce, mashed potatoes with mushrooms, and spinach. I cleaned my plate. I wish I had ordered a second dish to go. I can't remember what my sister ordered but she thoroughly enjoyed it. The portions were slightly more than just right (I was stuffed!) and the "starter" green salad was almost too much--I couldn't finish all of it. Everything tasted fresh and not over-spiced. Our dining neighbor ordered a slice of dark cake (carob???) that looked absolutely sinful. I was not pleased with the taste of the bottled iced tea--"honest tea"; it seemed to be weak and mint-spiced. I was expecting fresh-brewed Earl Grey iced tea (possibly sun tea) in this type of establishment, but the water (with lemon slice) was very refreshing. My sister said the bathroom was clean. The clientele was a wonderful mix of people (and a protective, obedient dog). The stools at the counter (overlooking Valencia Street) had extremely small seats. I have a small build and found it hard to "perch" on them comfortably (a little more surface area wouldn't hurt). The service was good. Our food came to us extremely fast.
