Taco Bell Is Better Than This Place While on vacation with my wife and three kids, we looked around for a place to eat. Every single restaurant had a line, except for Las Margaritas; it was nearly empty. That should have been warning sign number one. We were seated at a sticky table. There were two other couples in the restaurant at the time, both of which got up and left without ever eating. We should have followed.
After nearly 15 minutes, the server finally made contact with us. She took our drink orders and disappeared for about 10 minutes. The small drinks were delivered, then she again vanished. Of course the kids were thirsty from walking all day. The drinks were not refilled for free, which to me is a poor practice for a restaurant. Nearly an hour later, we got our food. I had a tough, cold, dry steak. My other daughter had a frozen veggie burrito that was not completely thawed. My wife's salad was also just as bad and she couldn't even finish it. My youngest shared some of my steak, since she was too young to have a meal. By the way, they had nothing for kids.
We were done eating by the time the frozen burrito came back. It appeared to have been chopped up with a fork and nuked. They would not take it off the bill. The "assistant manager" claimed she did not have the authority to remove it from the bill. I asked who then did have the authority. She told me the owner did, but he was out of town. (I guess that means he was at home in Daly City.) I told her if she really was in charge of anything, that she could adjust the bill. (What a joke.)
They also charged a mandatory tip for 5 or more diners. Mind you, only 4 of us ordered, plus I was extremely dissatisfied with the service. This is not a Mexican restaurant. It is a failing restaurant owned by [someone] who is trying to save a buck while sacrificing quality. [21 Mar 2007 10:12:31]
