The most Wretched Over-Priced Meals in San Francisco How bad can a restaurant be? Suffer through a dinner at the Waterfront Restaurant and you'll know. From the unpleasant greeting to the clumsy, indifferent service, to the truely abysmal food and prices that suggest they know what they're doing, it was a horror. Our table was so badly lighted - two tiny little candles - that we had to get up to read the menu. Of the five of us, I'll comment on my meal alone - the pork chop recommended by the waiter. He had the temerity to ask me "what temperature" I wanted the meat and I replied moist, medium. The serving I got could have doubled for the puck at a hockey game. Black, charred and so tough that I couldn't cut it with a steak knife. This was preceeded by a spinach salad that was wet with water - obviously the leaves were rinsed and not dried - that was limp and tasteless. And the mood was set by a martini that was served in an apertif glass - absolutely the smallest on the planet. What a blight on the San Francisco restaurant scene. I was embarrased for my city.
