Great place! Bill Carlson sold Bella Saratoga (formerly Bella Mia) to open Bella Mia in downtown San Jose in a gorgeous old building. Busy, lots of customers, long time loyalty. His chef made eggplant parmesan especially the way my dad wanted it. Delicious, reasonably priced and located near the light rail station so one can walk to it and to the theater, art museum, etc. Bill's signature dish is salmon ravioli and my daughter and I can eat it with just the homemade breadsticks with cheese spread (another Bill creation) and be happy ever after. Besides that, no one supports the community more than Bill Carlson, putting on charity dinners for many organizations, including the grand opening of Second Harvest's new building. New owner, new menu, new additude....NOW. The new owner of Bella Mia, Jon Murakami, and his new chef Miles Neel have really improved the quality, service and operation of Bella Mia. Ever since the change of owners, my visits to Bella Mia have been very pleasant. I feel very comfortable and relaxed now at Bella Mia. The food has improved and I now enjoy meeting my friends for a relaxing lunch or just stopping in for a quick afternoon espresso break. Best of luck to the new Bella Mia owner and staff. _____________________ Bill Carlson- NOW retired restaurateur [11 Sep 2006 15:53:48]
