Yikes! Stay away! Let's start with the meals... I had the NY steak that was less than promised in portion. And NOT cooked the way I liked it. When I asked nicely to have a few more minutes on the grill-the server did not return my meal for 15 minutes! To boot, it was lukewarm in the middle. Did they microwave it?? I guess they don't like people suggesting how they want something. Not to mention our "service" diminished after that. My wife asked twice for coffee and her main course of bass (I think) tasted as bland as could be. All this for $75! Sorry folks but fast food would be a way better option. [25 Jan 2004 13:19:42]

Amazing Fine Dinning Experience I have been to 231 Ellsworth many times, and I have to say that it is my favorite restaurant for fine dinning. Do yourself a treat and order the five course tasting menu with the wine paring. You will not find a better experience anywhere! If one of the items is not really what you want, just ask and they will gladly change it. (My wife won’t eat wild) I have not tried the Vegetarian option, but I just might next time. The wine paring are perfect too. Take a few hours to really enjoy it and treat it as an adventure. You will thank me….. [27 Oct 2004 13:32:13]

Hidden Treasure Found in Downtown San Mateo I must say, my dining experience at 231 Ellsworth last week was nothing lass than amazing. The combination of the professional service and exquisite food left a refreshing feeling in my mouth. By the end of the night, our stomachs were full, our minds stimulated and our souls filled with laughter and smiles.
If you’re looking for a excellent night, not just a special occasion, then this restaurant is worth checking out. The food is great, a touch out there but if you’re willing to open your mind as well as your mouth for superior cutting-edge food, then you’re in store for a treat. [14 Apr 2007 22:25:55]
