Great food; expensive prices; spotty service and quality.
I eat at the San Ramon Max's fairly often. Most of the food is excellent when prepared correctly. Lately, I've had a couple of experiences with very poor service and food quality. Considering how expensive Max's is, I expect the best all around. By the way, Max's desserts are *huge*, *expensive*, and look much better than they actually taste, in my opinion.    [16 Jan 2001 00:15:05]

Just Okay
Max's is very expernsive. During peak times you can expect a wait. The service is spotty. Like most place it depends on which server you get.
Personally I think the space is a bit odd. A long narrow room that seems to be pretty loud. It also has a bar area that is right at the front door and not very appealing to sit and relax.
