The absolute BEST authentic Thai food in OC
It is true that hole-in-the-wall places have the best dishes, and Bangkok Taste is no exception. Having eaten Thai food all over the country (but yet to eat it in its country of origin), I have to say this tiny restaurant really competes with the larger, more popular places. I discovered it in high school several years ago and was pleasantly surprised to find such a gourmet restaurant in a strip mall, between a dry-cleaner shop and a furniture store. Even well-known chains and big city hot-spots cannot hold a candle to the quality, variety, and presentation of the food. Nearly every dish is available in beef, chicken, pork, seafood or vegetarian, as well as mild, medium, or (incredibly) hot. It is served family-style, except for the lunch specials, so I would recommend trying several dishes and sharing with companions. Recently, while visiting a friend in San Francisco who knows of my penchant for exquisite Asian food, I ate at a highly recommended and saavy place in the Mission district and was thoroughly unimpressed. Not because the food or ambiance was less than pleasant, but because I compare all Thai food to Bangkok Taste and was disappointed that this restaurant was no where near as friendly, delightful or delicious!    [08 Feb 2005 19:32:53]

Recommended Dishes: A perfect meal: Pad Thai Noodles, Spicy Pineapple Fried Rice & Wor Wonton Soup. Top it off with some Banana Rolls for dessert and you're set!
