Asian food you don't have to die for I've been eating at Charlie's once a week or more since it opened and it is a standby among most of my friends. Large helpings, well-prepared, tasty, and dammit it's good for you, Charlie uses organic vegetables. I've been through all the basic dishes and my favorites are the Spicy Dan's (noodles in peanut sauce) and Chiang My Oh My (pad thai) with either the Green Chile Chicken or the Spicy Beef toppings. Another favorite is the Vietnamese Sandwich with the Spicy Beef topping. I even like Charlie's tofu. The specials are usually interesting. Located in a former hotdog stand on a busy corner, the place is small and always busy, casual and fun. [08 Dec 1999 03:32:07]

Cheap and greasy. The food is cheap and greasy, you can get plenty full for five dollars, and moisturize your face at the same time. The food is fine if you are in the mood for so much fat. The fresh vegatables are good. This is not intendended as a negative review, the restaurant is exactly as it should be and appears to be. It is an americanized chinese take out stand. And that is exactly what you get, in large quantities and at low prices, especially for santa cruz. [21 Jun 2004 20:47:01]

Great Vegan & Vegetarian Food I love this place. It's fast, reasonably priced, they treat their workers well, and they use locally grown organic produce. Unlike another reviewer, I don't find it greasy at all, and I hate greasy food. Maybe they've changed? At any rate, it's very healthy. [23 Sep 2005 11:40:57]
