Boring, Dirty, and They Don't Care I ate at Cricklewood on a Monday at lunchtime. While the salmon was fresh, that's all I can say good about this restaurant. The fish was also unseasoned, the tiny plate stuffed with overcooked rice and a juiceless lemon. Very boring food. The French onion soup had the fat of three steaks and tasted like prime rib, not onion. The prawns in the shrimp cocktail were rubber. The scotch and soda was made with flat soda.
The waitress wouldn't fix it other than to say she'd have the bartender look into it later. The seatback cushions are filthy, coated with food and dirt. The manager, David, wanted to argue. It was my first and last time at this restaurant. However, the bikers at the bar seemed to be having a good time. This restaurant is advertised as "an eating and drinking" place. There is no dining here. [18 Mar 2002 16:01:12]

Disappointing What a disappointment our recent dining experience at Cricklewood presented. The service was so-so, the drinks in the bar took so long they ended up being served at our table fifteen minutes later. The martinis were made in such small glasses that without olives you had about an inch of drink. The salad oil and vinaigrette dressing was not good, the meat was so-so and the wine we ordered with dinner was brought to our table already corked (Acht!). The excuse was that there was a new bartender...we didn't buy that being in the heart of wine country, etc. The wine was not very good either which caused us to suspect (wouldn't you) that it wasn't what we ordered. Oh well.
The ambiance in the side dining room is like Denny's, and everything is a little grimy. Our server appeared to be the only person serving the entire room with the exception of bussers. Overall a dissapointing experience that will not be repeated. We will not return to Cricklewood. Too bad, this used to be an okay place. [03 Oct 2003 17:16:41]

Good Experience Six of us had dinner at Cricklewood. Most had prime rib or steak and all enjoyed their meals. Service was attentive and polite. Good selection of local wines with fair prices. Corkage $10. Good desserts. Would definitely go back. [23 Apr 2006 00:21:50]

Absolutely Delicious I am a fan of prime rib, and my wife is not.... Last weekend we both were treated to the perfect mix at Cricklewood. I ordered my prime rib rare - it came out perfectly cooked, tender and delicious. My wife ordered the lobster - which was also prepared perfectly (I had to bribe her to share one little bite with me). We had no trouble finding a terrific local wine on the wine list that complemented both of our meals. And, the service was worthy of a tip significantly larger than 15%. We have dined here before, and we have never been disappointed . . . we will be back! [05 Dec 2006 09:56:25]

Prime rib you can cut with a plastic fork I've eaten at Cricklewood many times over the years. I always order the prime rib and French onion soup. No one has ever served me prime rib or French onion soup that comes close to the quality of Cricklewood. I'm going tonight for my 45th birthday and doubt I'll be disappointed. The place is older and has a rustic character. [18 Feb 2007 11:19:34]
