Best Mexican Food...EVER! Ok, here's the deal. People who know about Mexican food and either live or visit North County San Diego know about Fidel's. Right next door is Tony's Jacal. Most people love one or the other and will fight to the death about which is better. Me? I LOVE FIDEL'S. Tony's is gross. Fidel's is the best Mexican food anywhere. I lived in San Diego for 21 years, San Francisco for 6 and have been to Mexico many times. It does not get better then Fidel's. The salsa is perfect. The chips are perfect. The sauce they put on their burritos is perfect. I am a vegetarian and there are always plenty of options, even though I always get the same thing (my mom always asks why I even bother to look at the menu). I wan't always a vegetarian though and their chicken burritos are the bomb too (if you're into that sort of thing, which I'm not, anymore, cuz I'm vegetarian, i think i already mentioned that). anyhoo, Fidel's gets crazy crowded on the weekends particularly at night cuz everyone knows that it's the shiz. the guacamole taco is damn good as is the wet bean and cheese burrito - simple and delicious. Fidel's is the only reason I would ever move back to San Diego. Solana B up in here! Ok, now I'm hungry. [19 Oct 2005 20:42:56]
