Great Things Come in Small Packages Excellent small sushi bar. Skip the hustle and bustle, sit down and just have good food and drink. Yuji and staff are very nice, and you may have a celeb siting. [29 Sep 2005 11:11:01]

Salmon Skin Heaven . . . This is a gem in the rough.
Great Sushi....Very generous portions. The same can be said for all of Yuji's creations. The BEST salmon skin hand roll ever . . . no toaster oven on this one . . . very crunchy. And the spicy albacore hand roll is to die for. There's even a female sushi chef! It's about time! [23 Jan 2006 20:55:46]

Very Generous Portions!!! Great blue fin toro sushi. Big sliced toro more than double I never saw. Very fresh, melt in my mouth. Oh, my goodness!! They charged me only $12.80. Every time other sushi bar charge me $25 for very small portion toro sushi. They have a lot of great Yuji special roll. Excellent small sushi bar. I really enjoy their hustle and bustle. Sushi Mon Tarzana No need to go to Little Tokyo for the real thing anymore! There is no substitute for a chef-owned establishment. Yujisan delivers the absolute freshest sushi I have seen outside of Japan, and his wife Norikosan runs the dining room with efficiency and a gracious demeanor. It is a friendly place with lots of regulars. It is the kind of place where one can go alone and have a friendly experience. The portions are very large and the quality spectacular. The prices are average. That makes it the best value anywhere for me. The lunch specials are an exceptional value -- the portions are the same as dinner. I can never finish my whole meal; I always end up taking some home.
They have a good selection of premium sakes to explore. The regular wine list is minimal, but the quality decent. Mon could certainly offer a more extensive list of wines, since we are in California. We hope that soon they will. The restaurant is small and cozy; it is in an older building, but kept very clean. It is NOT one of those super-trendy places that dishes out mediocre food with untrained uncaring staff. At Mon, the whole place is run by the owners. It is a small, welcoming neighborhood jewel.
Go try it, you'll never go anywhere again! I promise! [25 Jul 2008 16:51:57]
