Tasty Little Gem Pedro "Pete" Flores, Junior, opened this restaurant in March, 1999, with members of his family. The clean, friendly atmosphere and consistently wholesome and delicious food make this a Tasty Little Gem, just two blocks from Visalia's Main Street.
Patrons are always greeted by the friendly staff, many of the regulars on a first-name basis. Sometimes the middle of lunch hour may mean a few minutes wait to be served, but the food is worth it.
The specialty is Fish & Chips and the freshly battered (home recipe) large chunks of fresh fish are crisp outside and moist and succulent inside. Each 2 or 3-piece order is served with large cut fries and a (too small) portion of sweet and delicious pineapple cole slaw. Condiments include lemon wedges, malt vinegar, tartar sauce, shrimp sauce, ketchup, and sister Nora's homemade chili sauce (spicy, but irresistable).
The fish tacos offer a choice of bits of snapper (my favorite) or swordfish, in a warm corn tortilla, spread with cream cheese and topped with shredded green cabbage.
I have eaten at Pescado Pete's 2-3 times a month for the past year and not had one disappointment. []

Worth The Trip Excellent little fast food stop. The fish is lightly battered and fried in fresh oil! Pete, the owner, is very friendly and makes sure his food is done correctly. Interestingly ecclectic menu with the emphasis on fish. Well prepared and tasty. The kitchen was clean and well kept. It is well worth the five mile detour when traveling up or down Highway 99!
