Good Place for Late Night Dining
Cafe Westminster is a home-style diner type restaurant, located conveniently off the 405 freeway. The food is reasonable priced, and the portions are good sized and the food is tasty.
It is best for a roadside stop on a trip, or late night dining (as the place is open 24 hours a day).
There are some drawbacks, and most go with its location. It is located in the same parking lot as the Motel 6 and an In N Out drive through, so it gets congested for parking, and sometimes it is a little more dusty than quaint.
It isn't somewhere you would want to take a date to... but it serves it purposes.
I have tried many different dishes and the two I always rely on are the Chicken Strips Dinner, which is large enough for my husband and I to share, and probably the best chicken strips EVER, and the Beef Barley Soup.
The service isn't the greatest, especially if you are forced to sit outside... which since it is California, you will be if you are a smoker. Many times there is a wait for the food, but still it is always hot and good.
I would give it a try if you are in the area or just passing through... just don't make a detour to get there.    [24 Dec 2003 00:53:56]

I love this place

Great All-Around Restaurant
Cafe Westminster has home-style cooking, reasonable prices, and a convenient location. The soups are made fresh each day and differ from day to day. I especially love the Albondigas (spanish meatball) and Navy bean soups. If you are looking for a low-carb high taste meal, order the chicken caesar or spinach salad. The portions are more than adequate, and the price is right.

For a full meal, I like one of the lunch or dinner specials ranging from steak and shrimp to roast turkey w/ all the trimmings. These specials come with soup or salad, choice of rice or potatoe and dessert. You want egss for dinner? No problem. They aim to accomodate every whim, if possible. The soups are great and you can watch the tube also which is a throw back to a '60s diner.
And outside they play tunes off the radio. They always have a special to choose from too.
And the bread or rice pudding is great too, a nice break from pie or cake.

The parking is not bad if you park on the west side and not the crowded east side facing In and Out Burgers, this is a mistake a lot of people make as they don't think about parking on the other side. Just make sure you lock your car.    [18 Feb 2007 06:57:56]
