Home Cooking on the Boulevard One of the last remaining home cooking eateries in The Valley, or for that matter, in Los Angeles. You wouldn't know it from the outside. Part of a typical U-shaped Ventura Boulevard shopping center. From the street it looks like an ordinary coffee shop, but one gander at the menu tells you it is something special, and a peek into the glass counter cases indicates some of Mom's home cookin' Chicken and meat dishes cooked to order. The pies are delish. The vegetable soup is to die for, and clearly the best fresh-squeezed orange juice sold in any restaurant in existence. [20 Jul 2000 18:15:01]

Cable's Needs a Wake Up Call As a homeowner in Woodland Hills, I've eaten at Cable's a number of times. The waitress is always cheerful, the service is fine. The food is not only tasteless, one might as well be at a truck stop in the middle of nowhere.
The prices reflect excellent food, execellent service.
Unless you are dying JUST for coffee, I can't recommend Cable's. [07 Feb 2003 21:25:56]

Alex still at the Helm Lovers of Cable's restaurant not only enjoy the peerless home cooking, glass of wine filled to the brim, and reasonable prices but the bond that exists between customers and staff. Alex "that tall, grey haired gentleman" at the register isn't the owner but has has been there over 20 years. His memory for faces is legendary. The warmth of the WWII Marine Vet and shy conversational style fosters respect and friendship. [21 Sep 2003 16:14:37]

Favorite breakfasts in Woodland Hills I have been going to Cables for breakfast for several years. Their breakfasts are great and inexpensive. Lunches and dinners are also very good, and are reasonable in cost. Cable's Rubeuen and Corned Beef sandwiches are better than you can find in a good deli. The waitresses are experienced and they try to remember your name and preferences. Highly recommended. [29 Feb 2004 20:54:19]
