I went to Casa Trejo last weekend for the first time in five years only to be reminded of why I quit going. I walk in the front door where I meet a wall of waiting people. I couldn't even get into give my name. After waiting for half an hour I was seated.

Once seated, my party waited for another half an hour. While we waited we were not acknowledged once, no water, silverware or chips and salsa. Once the waiter came to take our order he was rude and treated us as an inconvenience. Our food came within 20 minutes but we were still left with no silverware. After already asking twice, a member of my party had to go to hostess and ask for silverware. Once were able to eat we were once again disappointed. The food was bland and unimpressive. I will never put myself through that experience again.    [04 May 2004 17:07:08]

Um, Casa Trejo's Is OK
The food tasted as if everything came from a can. Not exactly authentic Mexican food. The waiting area is too small and the waiters could be friendlier.    [24 Mar 2005 15:12:13]

Great Food
At Casa Trejo they have great food and good service. The carnitas is the best I have ever had. Yes, the waiting area is small but go chill out and have a drink of your choice in the bar while you wait to be seated. If you have a carnitas burrito you will forget all about the waiting room.    [21 Aug 2005 23:09:55]

Geat Food - but
The food here is very good. Try the Ron Grande burrito. Yum.

Have heard horror stories about the rude behavior of the staff. I have noticed a bit of that myself but they are fine with me. Would appreciate larger bowls of chips and salsa. That would be helpful to the patrons as well as the servers. Best to go on the off hours as it does get crowded at times.    [02 Oct 2005 15:18:19]

Agree with Other Reviewers and I Worked There
I worked at this restaurant briefly last year. The waiters are rude because they are all family members and frankly know that they will not get fired. The owners son, Micheal, is by the far the rudest of the bunch. However, the food is wonderful; I disagree with the other reviewers on that point, just get it to go. People do wait there when seated because the restaurant is constantly understaffed as they cannot seem to keep permanent staff (i.e. not family members) for more than a few months.    [04 Oct 2005 17:39:06]

Horrible
The food might be good but the staff and owners are horrible! Extremely rude. There are rules on the menu! And everything is an additional cost. They take advantage of being in a small town where the dining choices are limited. I only go here when friends request it and every time have had a bad experience. The food is the only thing they do right.    [16 Dec 2005 14:31:34]

Hello? Michael Rude? Impossible
Casa Trejo is absolutely the best U.S. Mexican food we have ever experienced. The Carnitas are so prefectly prepared they only serve them on the weekends allowing adequate time for the meat to marinate and slow cook.

The entire family is delightful to know and take pride in their culinary skills.    [17 Dec 2005 16:00:32]

Time and Time Again
I have been going to CT's since the 3rd day they were in business. My children love their cooking more then mine! And I'm Mexican. But, yes, they could improve on the service. But look how busy they are and no one in the family can take a vacation together with out shutting the restaurant down and you know that us patrons hate that! But people be real if you know it's going to be busy, be prepared for the wait and (crappy) service and remember why your there to eat and enjoy your food!    [15 Feb 2006 18:48:53]

Absolutely the Best
I have been frequenting Casa Trejo since 1991 and couldn't count on one hand how many times I was dissatisfied with the service. Maybe they are family owned and run but I have found this to be a real plus for us regulars. P.S. I also recommend the carnitas. Best in the west. Wish I had the recipe.    [13 Jun 2006 14:42:54]

Best Food, Best Family
My partner and I ate at Casa Trejo for almost 9 years, until he passed away in Feb '06. Yes, they are busy. Yes, small waiting area. But plan to wait and enjoy a very good meal. The family always treated us excellently!    [13 Aug 2006 21:29:39]
