Boulder has much better
This restaurant is one of my least favorite Mexican restaurants in Boulder. One issue is their menu, which offers a limited selection of the "standard" mexican entrees, while providing many "Casa Alvarez specialties" which I have yet to find very good. I have given this restaurant three chances, the last ending any desire of mine to visit.

During our meal, the waitress started off by spilling the water on the table. In addition, while they provide chips & salsa like most mexican restaurants, they charge you $2.00 if you want a refill (and they don't provide much to begin with). This is in comparison with Ajuaaaa, the Armadillo, and the Santa Fe Grill located in the area that provide unlimited free chips (why charge for such a little detail). Our server was also unable to adequately describe most of the menu items, so when I ordered the shrimp coctail I received this coctail glass full of shrimp and salsa, which had only mediocre taste and was not worth the $9.99. The other individuals in my group were equally unsatisfied, as their food arrived cold and with limited taste. Lastly, our waitress came by only once to refill our drinks (and that was when she tried to clean up our table, and I told her to refill the drinks instead).

Not only has this restaurant dropped in popularity within the community, but I would not recommend it to anyone. There are plenty of other good mexican restaurants in Boulder to visit if you are in search of a good mexican meal.    [05 Mar 2006 01:29:43]
