Disappointed by service On a group ski trip to Breckenridge in March 2003, we did our share of finding restaurants that could accommodate our group size (7-11 people), tastes, and pocketbooks. A quick glance at the Horseshoe II's menu in a tourist guide indicated a standard American menu, family charm, blah, blah, blah. The service was varied- some of the wait staff was excellent, others indifferent and seeming to want to end their ski season. Our server thought that flirting would make up for her inattention to listen to our individual requests (including simple ones, like no condiments). A follow-up letter to advise the restaurant of their lacking service has been unacknowledged. Since I'm from another mountain west ski town, I can fairly compare restaurant service. I'd spend my hard-earned tourist dollars elsewhere and go somewhere were service is more than perfunctory. [03 May 2003 13:25:14]

Decent food, good music, great atmosphere! Some buddies and I were looking for quick place to eat in Breck when we came upon the Horseshoe II. After reviewing their menu posted outside we decided to head in for a couple of drinks and a bite to eat. There was a short wait, 10-20 minutes, but we grabbed some seats at the bar and by the time we finished our first round our table was ready. Our waitress arrived as soon as we were seated and quickly began to walk us through the menu pointing out her personal favorites such as the Thai shrimp pasta, BBQ ribs, and teryaki glazed salmon. We took her advice and ordered all three of her suggestions as well as a N.Y. strip. We kicked back and took in the blues music playing as we looked around at all the early 1900's pictures, the victorian starcase leading to the balcony seating, and the grand bar which the bartender told us dated back to the 1880's! Our food as expected was great and the total for the bill modest. We like the place so much we headed back to the bar to watch some sports hilights and have an after dinner drink. The Horseshoe II was an unexpected surpries for us and we can't wait to come back next year [05 Apr 2004 20:44:19]
