Armadillo declines My family and I have been going to the Armadillo Restaurant in Broomfield for several years. It is a neighborhood restaurant. We just now got back from our latest meal there and may never go back. After waiting almost 15 minutes for anyone to come to our table, our waiter seemed unfamiliar with the menu as well as the English language. After waiting almost a half hour for our order to arrive, it was wrong. The waiter came out a few minutes later with yet another wrong dish. Even though we complained to the manager, nothing changed. When the waiter brought the bill, it was wrong also. When I sought out the manager a second time, the waiter tried to head me off. The manager finally got the bill straightened out and provided us with apologies and a well-deserved discount. I was going to tip the waiter, not fully, but some, but when he brought the bill for me to sign, he slapped it on the table and walked away in a huff. No apologies or anything. His huff cost him his tip.
The quality of this restaurant has definitely declined. I have nothing against atmosphere as far as employees, but it is inexcusable for the entire staff to be inexperienced in the English language. The quality of the food isn't what it once was either. [06 Oct 2005 22:03:13]

Great Food - Great Service I also eat there at least once a week. Always great service, good food and IF there is any issue, it is taken care of with no issue and no need for a manager. The last time I talked with a manager is was about the great service from a waiter. The Sunday buffet is a nice treat to stop and try on the way home from church. [14 Apr 2006 00:21:34]

Armadillo is Slipping My wife and I have been going to the Armadillo since it's beginning in La Salle, CO in the 70's. We have always loved going there until we went to the Ft. Collins restaurant last Saturday afternoon. (We have also gone to this location many times.) Anyway after the waitress took our order it took 30 minutes to get our meal. The lettuce on my tacos and enchiladas was so bad I removed it. It looked like it had been frozen then thawed and left on the counter for a day. The dish had been heated for so long the beans had a crust around them that could not be penetrated. My wifes meal was just as bad and the enchiladas were so soggy that we did not eat all of them. The waitress never came back to ask if all was okay or if we needed anything. This struck us as unusual as they were not busy. Getting the check was also a very long process. After all these years we were really disappointed. I really am not sure if we will go back. I then read an article today detailing their chapter 11...now I think I am understanding the problem. Instead of repainting and changing the decor maybe they should try to get the food and service quality back to what made them famous. [31 Aug 2006 12:10:36]

Awful Chips! We frequently dine at this restaurant. The food is good--but what makes it great is the salsa and chips. We just finished eating there. The chips were terrible--thick and oily.
We won't be going back. [07 May 2007 12:35:10]
