Top Brew Pub in SW Colorado Main Street Brewery is a not to be missed local gem. Fantastic beer from a German Brewer and decent food in an eclectic setting. Definitely worth stopping in. [07 May 2003 21:29:40]

A Mediocre Brew Pub in SW Colorado We visited Main Street Brewery with a party of 23 on a Wednesday night in mid-June, 2005.
The people who ordered burgers, pizza, & steak said it was good. Those who ordered salads were very disappointed. A few of us ordered the steak & spinach salad for dinner, and if there was an ounce of tough, shaved thin steak on the salad, I'm being generous.
The portion of vegetables was smaller than a side salad. The unfortunate gentleman who was served last counted 8 small spinach leaves, and 4 slices of tomato for his dinner. On top of this, it tasted terrible. I complained to the waitress, who shrugged & said she could get me another one, if I want. I didn't want to wait for another equally bad salad, so just said I'd eat the spinach & please give me an adjustment on my bill.
About 20 minutes later, the owner came up to our table and asked what was the problem. I said it was the worst, and smallest salad I ever had. He told me I was wrong, it was an excellent salad, and the proof was that I ate it! Then he said he wouldn't adjust my bill, either. I said that was okay, we just wouldn't return, and wouldn't recommend his restaurant on the Internet. His response was to ask for my card, so he could have his attorney contact us. This guy was a horrible host, who stood at our table trying to fight. One of the men in the group finally demanded he leave us alone, which he did after three more requests to go away. I requested my bill immediately, which the waitress did not deliver until another 10 minutes had transpired.
Not a good place to visit - this was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. [10 Jul 2005 20:50:22]

Bland Food The Honey Raspberry Beer was good. As was the pretzel starter. I had the Pasta alla Paisano( Linguine, broccoli, garlic, Parmesan, Olive Oil). I never have to add salt to food, because it's cooked right from the kitchen. I had to put so much salt on this because it was the blandest thing I ever eaten. I asked for extra garlic, and to my surprise, it was garlic that is pre-chopped that you could buy from the grocery store. Which has less flavor than freshly chopped. It was not fresh. Foccacia was the bread that was served along with my meal. Someone needs to go to baking school. It had not fully risen and was so nasty.
The waiter was nice. Though, I did sit around for awhile waiting for the bill.
I see why this place was empty on a Saturday night at 7pm. [15 Oct 2006 10:45:15]

Excellent Dinner in all Aspects I wasn't expecting much from the food as we entered this restaurant after reading the other reviews on this site, and boy was I surprised. Everything about this restaurant was wonderful. The warm greeting of the hostess at the counter, the roomy booth the two of us were seated at, the delicious home brewed beers, the generous dinner salad of romaine lettuce, the home-baked fresh warm focaccia bread, the two perfectly cooked entrees, the genuine atmosphere inside the restaurant of the vintage "small town" feeling, the courteous and prompt service from our food server, and refreshingly, seeing the owner enjoying helping his staff clear tables, seat customers and visit with the locals.
I have traveled to Asia, Australia, Europe and North America and I am hard to please. This restaurant is a "must eat at in Cortez, CO" for the traveler expecting a well-prepared, generous serving of an entree in clean, unpretentious surroundings.
My only suggestion is that the restaurant get a web site going with the menu on it. I wish our town back home in the Chicago area had a restaurant this genuine and cool that we could rely on for great local dinners. [26 May 2007 22:57:54]
