Yum Yum Yum After being on my motorcycle for two days I was ready for a good meal and was fantasizing about some blackened fish of some sort. I knew I was not going to have my fantasy this evening; after all, we're in land-locked Colorado!
We checked into the Elk Run Inn and asked for the best place for dinner and was directed to "Bad to the Bone" at 572 Breeze St.
When I walked in and saw the special on the board, I was stunned. "Blackened Catfish!" I did not even look at the menu, I just threw caution to the wind and ordered.
First, though, a margarita was calling me, so I was brought a yellow drink in a margarita glass. Hmmm. I tasted it and it was not your usual sugary sweet margarita, which I do not like. This was tart with just a hint of sweet; perfect! The waitress noticed and asked if it was okay, that it looks kind of sour.
First was a cup of gumbo which was wonderful; chunks of seafood, potatoes, etc; and not at all salty.
Then came my plate of blackened catfish, hush puppies, fried okra, and Cajun rice. The catfish was seasoned just right; a perfect combination of spices and just the right heat to it. Everything was perfect; truly! I couldn't even finish, so I took the rest back to the motel fridge and had it for breakfast!
My husband had prime rib and said it was great too! The wait staff was very efficient and they were helping one another out; something I rarely see in any restaurant. It was about 60 degrees that night and we ate on the porch outside where the gas heaters kept us nice and warm. I can't wait to go through Craig again to visit this wonderful little gem! Gem of a Restaurant We had driven through Wyoming all day and stop for the night in Craig,Co.
We were hungry and hotel recommended Bad To The Bone BBQ and Grille. It was excellent. We ordered the special(Chicken stuffed with Black Forest Ham,Cheese drizzled in Garlic Lemon Sauce).Sides were veggies and Spinach salad. Dessert-Irish Bash. Ask for Carrie. Well worth the Stop.
