Good Pasta But That's It Their home-made pasta is quite good. Haven't found much else that is unfortunately - soup is from a can and the bread appears to be store bought as well. If you're looking for just pasta or take-out, this is your place, but not well balanced. [20 Jun 2003 14:35:55]

Pretty Awful The portions are small, thank god, as they are not good. The price is high. The bread: store bought. Salad: iceberg, few slithers of carrot.Salad dressing: definitely out of a jar. The pasta sauce is over cooked. The pasta is doughy.
The ambiance?? For as much traffic as this restaurant generates, the place is WELL, there is NO ambiance.
I have been here previously, many years ago, and nothing changed. I cannot believe the reputation this place has (captive audience), it is far from authentic Italian food. But don't waste your time/money here. [08 Apr 2005 16:51:54]

Long time family favorite My family and I have been driving 40+ miles from Denver to the Blue Parrot. We love it for family events. Recently went with a party of 13. We had excellent, friendly service; the homemade pasta is delicious as is the sauce and the sausage. Salad, bread and wines are only so-so. Great place to linger over meal and enjoy conversation. Go there for what it is The Blue Parrot is where Italian Coal Mines and the small western town meet. Louisville was a coal mining town from way back in the olden days. A large number of the miners were Italian immigrants and this is where the mix of small western town tastes blended with the hard working Italians. If you are going to the the Blue Parrot for traditional Italian you will be disappointed; but go with an open mind of On the Farm Italian and you might (and I stress might) be accepting of its divergence from the traditional. A thicker noodle than you're used to, a less spicy sauce and a big meatball with a small amount of spice. This is an enjoyable restaurant with a history nearly as old as the town of Louisville. Not Just Itallian My family has lived here for 25 years. We used to walk to the Blue Parrot for dinner on Sunday nights when I was young. If you are looking for small town hospitality and some somewhat out of the box Italian food, I definitely recommend this restaurant. It may not be "Authentic Italian" but it is famous for a reason! b.p. sauce at the store I've been buying Blue Parrot sauce in a jar at Albertson's for years. It tastes great and has lower salt, sugar and fat than most other jar sauce. The store has not had it for about 3 weeks now. please don't tell me it's been discontinued?? I used to really like the restaurant years ago for the food and the homey atmosphere! Can't get out much these days, hence the need for your sauce in a jar!! [15 May 2007 21:07:19]
