Come for the beer, stay for the music, eat before you arrive OB's is a world class microbrewery. Dale's Pale Ale and Old Chubb Scottish Ale will match up against anyone's beer..And they can their beer with state of the art equipment yep I said CAN. Every honor these beers have been awarded has been justly earned.
OB is more than just a brew pub it's also one of Colorado's best small music venues with every wall papered in the promo pictures of the blues artists that make it a point to gig there. Nearly every night of the week has some sort of live music.
The decor is a bit cheesy but not out of line with what one would expect from a roadhouse, however I can live without anymore photos or statues of Elvis in the restaurant.
Where OB's falls flat is on the food service end of it's business. We ate there on a late Sat afternoon about 4pm and the only high point to our meal was the fact that our nachos came with fresh peppers as opposed to pickled ones.
For a restaurant that bills it's self as serving 'Cajun and Southern' style food what we were served was lackluster warmed over versions of Cajun food.
My wife had the jambalaya which was bland and served on instant rice that was overcooked. You will get better jambalaya at Popeye's chicken.
I had the Cajun spaghetti a 'house favorite' This dish is nothing more than a tomato bisque with a few odd bits of seafood and spiced with hot but not flavorful peppers..These were not good values for the money and if this is indicative of the rest of the menu than I'll be sticking to burgers on the next visit.
Finally it's obvious that whoever is running the front of the house doesn't have a good grip on the staff. Yes this is a family run business however that doesn't excuse hijinks by the busboys who wander the floor in pairs or trios. Or waitstaff that seem to have no clear idea of who's covering which table.. We had no less than 5 different servers during our meal and were never asked if we wanted desert or warned us that the nacho plate was hot(which my wife discovered the hard way)
My title I think says it all... [21 Jul 2007 21:29:52]
