Going downhill
Since the original owners sold, this restaurant, once one of the best steak houses on the Western slope with the very best service you can find, has sadly gone downhill. The menu has been re-done to compete with the new chain restaurants that just came to town. Also in response, the prices were raised. Many of the original servers were replaced (most of them were the best in town), and now I find current service to be disappointing. The food tastes okay, but is nothing like the way it used to be.    [04 Jan 2006 21:06:28]

One of the best in town
This restaurant has the most diverse menu in town. I eat there a couple of times a week and never have a bad meal. The Sunday Brunch is especially good.    [24 Mar 2006 20:34:10]

Just Gets Better and Better!
When we eat out, we head to the Red Barn. The food is consistently fantastic and the service is always fast and friendly. The variety on the menu makes it easy to please every member of our family.    [04 Apr 2006 17:43:18]

Best Steak in town...no longer
My wife and I were both born in Montrose and were here when John Wayne acted in 'True Grit',filmed locally in the late 60's. We ate at the Red Barn on our first dates when we went to Montrose High School. Last night was my wife's birthday and we heard the radio promotions of a "free birthday meal". We decided to go and she had the special, a large sirloin ($28.00) She could only stand three bites of it! The water had more flavor than the steak. All the help were new or at least we didn't recognize any of them. The dishes my two sons and I had were "ok" but not what we used to eating from years ago. I'm sad to say this, but it looks like a good old "landmark" of Montrose is now off my list of favorites. By the way, the "free b-day meal" wasn't free after all. We failed to mention it was her birthday "before" we had our dinner?!!?

Absolutly Terrible!
We ate there a few weeks ago. We both got extremely overpriced pieces of "Leather" they called Prime Rib. I was born and raised here in Montrose, and have dinner there quite often. I moved away and came back and was bitterly disappointed. The Salad had rotten tomatoes. The Red Barn has gone down hill and I plan on never visiting there again.    [23 Jul 2008 19:36:16]

BEST ALL AROUND FAMILY RESTAURANT
My wife and I eat at The R.B. at least once a week. On Sunday after Church, we take our married kids and grandchildren to The R.B. for Brunch.
We've been to every restaurant in town, but for consistency in good food, good service, and great family atmosphere, you can't beat the Red Barn.    [10 Sep 2008 09:50:14]

Absolutely Great!
On 9/27/2008, while staying at Comfort Inn, my wife and I asked the manager where to eat; RED BARN was one of her suggestions. BOTH OF OUR MEALS WERE EXCELLENT! I had stew and Bev. had spaghetti; the portions were humongus, and they both tasted GREAT!    [17 Oct 2008 12:06:19]

Get What You Want
It dosen't matter what you're in the mood for...the Red Barn is sure to please. With something for everyone on the menu, nobody goes home hungry OR dissatisfied. In spite of recent economic issues, Chuck Presby (owner) is sensitive to pocketbook issues, offering specials almost nightly to accomodate even the tightest budgets. Going to the Red Barn pleases not only the palate, but the senses as well, with the friendliest and attentive staff, great cooks and delicious drinks and deserts Montrose has to offer.    [01 Mar 2009 16:03:32]

Just a fun find!
Love this place! If you are looking for GREAT food and a casual western environment, this is the place. This has quickly become our favorite place to eat in Montrose. It's no wonder they were voted best prime rib and steaks in town. Yummm    [13 Mar 2009 19:13:54]
