Where has this place been hiding? I was in town on business and staying at the Marriott. The front desk suggested Shamrock Brewing Company for dinner. I had planned on a quick dinner then out for some drinks with clients. Well, I never left. The server said everything was "house made" and I had heard that before and have been disappointed. Well, everything was.... from the Irish Beer Cheese soup to the blue cheese dressing. I had the Atlantic mussels for an appetizer which were steamed in their blonde ale, some cream, celery and a hint of orange. I was impressed! They had some great fresh seafood and steak specials but I had to try the corned beef. The server said it was special and believe me it was! Sweet, tender and served "country style" thick cut, large portion. The red potatoes and cabbage were "beer steamed" and on the mark. If other restaurants served corned beef this good, it would be more than a novelty on St. Patty's day. I finished the meal with dark and white chocolate bread pudding in an Irish cream sauce. During my meal I sampled all their beers and was impressed. However some Grand Cru was still available (seasonal) and it stole the show. Wow! [27 Feb 2006 21:17:31]
