Giggling Girls - Seriously Great Food Part of me wants to keep this place a secret so I can get a table when I roll through Salida. The setting is just OK (small and a bit noisy), but the food is great. One of the best places for dinner in Colorado, and I've dined all around the world. While Colorado is not known for great food (rightly so) this place is a treat in the heart of the mountains. Salida has a strong arts community and several local artists works are usually on display. The food preparation has a similar artistic flair while staying true to the down home atmosphere of small town Colorado. The locals and weekend visitors know about this place so reservations are a must. [17 Sep 2003 22:11:07]

Still Enjoying the Meal We were there over fall break from school in sw Oklahoma and just came across the restaurant by chance but very glad to have found it and can't wait to go back. Great atmosphere and service was above and beyond. We stayed for about an hour and half because my wife did not want to leave any crumbs. Fabulous place and setting. [10 Nov 2003 19:58:12]

A Regular Stop for a Day Trip When we want to get out of Colorado Springs and enjoy the mountain scenery, we always make Laughing Ladies a part of our itinerary. Lovely food, moderate prices (especially for the quality of food and service), and a nice place to eat -- whether we're wearing snow pants from a day of skiing or jeans. [01 Jan 2004 12:04:52]

Good Enough to Plan a Trip to Salida We discovered Laughing Ladies a year ago, and since then we go out of our way to eat there every time we visit Southern Colorado. Meals have ranged from the best lamb with cassoulet I have ever had in my life to beer cheese soups and fresh sandwiches served on flaky buttermilk biscuits. Try one of the changing selection of local beers they always have on tap. [14 Apr 2004 16:15:49]

Great Restaurant See what you find when you talk to the locals soaking in the Joyful Journey's Hot Springs? You find a great local restaurant in Salida. The atmosphere was not opulent but the food was spectacular and a great bottle of wine for $18. Only drawback was that they close early, 9 pm I think. Also prompt arrival of the meal so no languishing for 3 hours over the meal, but that was what we needed as we were starving after a whole day of being outside. [08 Jul 2004 13:22:12]

Laughing Ladies and Salida are Tops On September 4,2004, we happened on the "Ladies", it was the first good cool snap , sprinkling rain, and we had the good fortune to sit on the patio and have one of the finest meals this writer has experienced....first an incredible sliced heirloom tomato, clearly vine ripened, served on fine greens and with a special dressing, followed by a roasted lamb shank served with excellent simple sauce resulting from the fine deglazing of a pan that had cooked the shanks for hours, and served with perfectly seasoned creamy mashed potatoes. Then after the mocha bread pudding....and as we left about 9pm there was still a line at the front door!! [12 Sep 2004 12:15:34]

The Best in Colorado My boyfriend and I have lived in Colorado for 12 years between us, and we both agree that Laughing Ladies is the best restaurant in the state. We both have spent a lot of time and attention trying out food, so we feel that this is no casual statement. Every time we go, there is something new and spectacular to try. I can't stay away from the perfect fried chicken (although not my typical cup of tea), and my boyfriend was a raving fan of the halibut with lightly battered rice and vegetable cakes. Would unconditionally recommend it. [13 Oct 2005 05:55:54]

Soooooooo Good What is better than eating your fabulous mean with the Chef! My folks live in the Salida area and I had the honor of dining there with my dad, dear friend and the Chef. The meal was fantastic, the service was excellent and the company was completely entertaining. This is a place I would return to again and again. I highly recommend trying out the food, anything on the menu would be a good start, middle and finish! [31 May 2006 13:23:16]

Tops in Salida! We are from DFW area and have many restaurants to choose from, but when we travel(which is yearly to New Mexico and Colorado)we make a point to get to Salida and the Laughing Ladies! for several years we made sure we were at the Laughing Ladies for New Years. What a treat...Sadly we are in our 70's and our trips are not always every 6 months, but as long as we can make it we will be there. Salida itself has not changed that much and nether has Laughing Ladies. Long may they reign! [05 Aug 2007 20:07:13]
