Winter Storm December 13,2007 On December 13,2007, my boyfriend had reservations at FOE an American Bistro. The restaurant closed because of the storm, but ,when my boyfriend tried calling other places to find something local, Assagio's phone answered, YES, we are open. From the moment we entered this lovely welcoming restaurant, the entire experience, was amazing. The ambience, staff , food quality, was superb. The owner/manager offered us a complimentary sherry thanking us for coming out on such a awful night. I would give them a ***** star's [20 Dec 2007 16:38:50]

tiny, cramped, long wait for dessert I heard about this restaurant as being an offshoot of another popular restaurant outside New Haven so decided we should give it a try. The atmosphere was nice but had a cramped feeling including having to stare at the tiny bar in the corner. The waitstaff seemed extremely rushed and overworked to get to all the tables. The food was ok at best on par with some chain italian eateries but at nearly twice the price. When we finally got to dessert it took nearly 20 minutes to get our items which we asked the waiter about only to hear him say he had to prep it all himself. i wouldn't recommend this experience to any of my friends. I hope they can find a way to turn this little place into a pleasant dining experience. [11 Jan 2008 12:54:27]

I won't go back The fish I ordered was prepared incorrectly as blackened. Although blackened was the special, a pan-fried version was offered. I ordered the pan fried. When the manager brought out the new piece he said " Next time order correctly, we don't want to waste any fish." When I went to speak with him, he told me I made him feel like it was his fault when I said "this is right." I have never been treated so rudely by a restaurant manager. Despite the good food, I won't go back. [08 Sep 2008 21:53:29]

Won't go back ever again Imagine eating in a tiny elbow to elbow cafe while being able to hear the staff in the kitchen swear. That's exactly what I got when I went in for dinner with my husband and 4 year old daughter. I wouldn't say the food was bad but it just tasted and looked like any other dish you can get for half the price at a chain like Olive Garden. I have heard this place has been in business for a while and other than there not being many other real restaurants in town except going to New Haven, I can not imagine why. If this place was anywhere with competition, it'd be out of business a long time ago. Drive a bit further and pay a lot less for so much more. [27 Aug 2009 14:21:43]
