Don't go unless someone else is paying The food is very good. Don't go there if you want pasta. They have excellent fish, veal and steaks. And a fabulous wine list.
If you're the kind of person who is concerned about price, then this restaurant isn't for you. [30 Sep 2003 10:27:53]

A Terrible Experience I've been to all the five star restaurants in CT and this was my worst experience of all of them. The food was mediocre despite the hype, the price outrageous, the noise in the restaurant unbelievable and the service simply OK.
I was shocked so many people actually do go there. [08 Feb 2004 10:58:45]

Wonderful Valbella was a wonderful experience, the upstairs room does get crowded and noisy, but the downstairs in the wine room, is quiet lovely. The food is excellent, and if you don’t want something on the assortment of cuisine on the menu, there is nothing they can’t make for you. It is on the expensive side, so it is best to be taken there. [11 Dec 2004 15:27:27]

The Best Valbella is simply what all restaurants should be! The staff greets you with passion, and will feed you until your heart is content. The wine list is sensational, as is the wine cellar, in which you may dine. Pricey? You bet! Worth it? Yes! [23 Feb 2005 14:52:33]

Avoid if you are a discriminating diner A party of 4 Manhattan residents(with CT homes) unanimously grade this place 0-2 stars in all respects. Many sins common to overhyped restaurant, and some very unexpected. Valbella would not last long in a tough NYC dining environment, which says little for CT palates and service expectations. How disappointing this evening was for such anticipation. [09 Oct 2005 11:15:44]

awful Food was inedible and I'm not exagerating...service was mediocre, price was crazy, although I dont mind paying for a great meal...this was not one of those. DO not go there if you like good food. [03 Mar 2007 07:10:42]

Disappointed to say the least & broke Prompt arrival yet, an overwhelmed sweaty manager stepped on my foot - no apology, had no clue who we were and told our waiting guests that they were 30 min. late.... Dining room noise overpowering... Food average... Prices insane... Service? - we waited 45min. between appetizer and main (squash blossom -exc. C.Sea Bass -okay). Choc.Souffle dry.... Wine excellent! Who cares who's there? Serve me the excellent food I cleaned my wallet out for. [15 Oct 2007 20:23:47]
