Love Luce My husband and I decided it was about time we tried Luce so we went last Sunday evening. I was delighted to find out that they have Stella Artois on tap, I love that in a restaurant! I had the stuffed chicken breast which was stuffed with wild mushrooms it was a large portion served with spinach and jasmine rice. My husband had the sirloin tips which he rated the best he has ever had. We began our meal with the French Onion soup which was heavy on onions but light on cheese. I would return here but I have to say that the service was spotty at best, this is an area they really need to work on because their food is very good but there is only so much ignoring even I will tolerate. I had driven by this acclaimed "Luce" restaurant numerous times and had been wanting to try it for awhile. The sign above the door said Fine Dining, so I was intrigued.
I have found the Meriden Middletown area to be void of many nice restaurants so walking into a place that was clean, modern, and professional was a breath of fresh air.
The food was delicious. We started with a tomato mozerella salad that had a unique sweetness (presumably a condensed balsamic) to it that made me wish we'd ordered more than one to share amongst us.
For dinner we each picked a different dish and were all pleased with the turnout. The favorite among the bunch was the gnochi served in a pesto cream sauce. Fantastic!
We tried three of the desserts, the Peach Ribano(sp?), Bomba, and Molten Lava Cake. The Peach Ribano was enjoyable but it paled in comparison to the deep dark flavor of the Bomba and the rich warm consistency of the Cake.
The wait staff was friendly and present. The food took just longer to arrive than I would have liked, but it was not unreasonable. Our server was very professional and added to the experience.
I liked the decor. Our table was framed by a beautiful stone fireplace, and the lighting was appropriate. Large windows on the East side of the restaurant give a view of the bustling Middletown Main Street, and with it, a feeling of summertime.
I loved Luce and can't wait to return. [22 Jun 2006 11:17:26]

Good, Not Great. I've eaten here several times in the past year. The atmosphere is pleasant; the wait staff is well-trained. They have an extensive wine list and many draft beers. In general I have enjoyed my meals, with only minor quibbles. I wish the bread had been warm. My tenderloin tips were not as tender as I had hoped. Sprouts were a wierd kind of garnish on all of our entrees. [14 Feb 2007 21:42:03]

Not So Impressed My husband and I took his Mother to Luce for a Mother's Day celebration. It was our first time there and when we walked in, we liked what we saw. Unfortunately, service was very-very slow and it took entirely too long for our food to arrive. My Mother-in-law & I had the chicken w/ the cajun spices and were suprised to find that it was tasteless. My husband chose the salmon and said that it was great. We probably won't return, but at least we can say we tried it. 5/15/07 [17 May 2007 10:27:18]
