a very rude experience
A group of friends and I dropped in one night for some drinks. At last call (around 12:40AM) we ordered some final beverages and thought nothing more of it. At 12:55AM (the place closes at 1) we were given our check and told that we had to leave. Fine, no problem, we thought. The problem is that Anchor doesn't accept credit cards, which we didn't know. Our very polite waiter notified us that there was an ATM on site, and we stood in line to get the cash to pay for our drinks. As we were trying to settle up, someone who our waiter referred to as his "boss" (the owner maybe?) began, in an extremely rude way, to berate us for still being in his establishment at closing time. We tried to explain to him that we didn't know they didn't take cards and were simply trying to settle our check. He then began to belittle us for not knowing. It was extremely insulting...I couldn't quite believe what I was hearing. Needless to say, we will never go to Anchor again, and I recommend that you don't either. Why condone that kind of behavior?    [01 Dec 2006 01:46:11]

Unbelievable
It is 10:30pm on March 10, 2007 I work for the Marriott and was sending a guest to the Anchor. I called and a man answered the phone. Very rude. I asked him if they took credit cards because I was on the web site in New Haven and it said cash masgter and visa. The boy hung up on me. Where is the customer service? I called back again and he said call back busy click..Where is the owner does he know what is going on. I was sending a group of 20 for fun and drinks. The restaurant is off our list. If we send them there we would look bad with the service we received and that was just on the phone. First impressions really do matter in business.
