The Best Artistic Japanese Cuisine My husband and I love Miya’s Wednesday night special, Kisekae. For one flat price, roughly $30.00, you get an entourage of dishes specially prepared by the excellent chef Bun Lai! It’s best to call ahead to reserve the "Kisekae”. All you can eat has never been this exquisite. The dishes have been different each time we’ve gone, and it’s great to know that the chef is creating all these dishes fresh, while you are sitting at your table. If you take a minute break from sipping your hot sake to watch, you’ll see Bun Lai running between the sushi counter and the kitchen working up a sweat to serve up the most unique and flavorful dishes we’ve seen here in Connecticut. He’s truly an artist when it comes to cuisine. [23 Apr 2005 19:16:53]

Overrated My wife and I dined at Miya's recently with high expectations and had a very bad experience. Sadly, the service, the atmosphere and even the quality of the food were a big let down. I found the waitstaff to be rude at best...when they paid attention to us. I even asked to speak with Bun, the owner who was nothing short of arrogant, aggressive, and obnoxious. The food was a 7 out of 10, which normally isn't that bad...but not for those prices! I will not dine there again and I wouldn't support such arrogance. [16 Nov 2005 13:37:00]

Miya's Sushi Is Elegant and Explodes with Flavor Miya's creative genius, Bun Lai, is unstoppable in the kitchen! I wish I could eat there more often, but living in Japan, it is hard to get there sometimes. There is always something new to try when I get there, and it is always delectible to the tastebuds. High on my list are ebibaba, brightly burning tiger, bumble bee, ebi-tori, and salmon tartar, just to name a few. The staff is helpful in reccomending your dinner as well as Miya's fine selection of homemade sakes and beer. By the way, I wish they would bring back the lime green tea sake! Oishii katta. Open Letter To Miya's Sushi Dear Bun,
I would like to thank you for the magical evening. We have had so many together, but paradoxically, each seems to be unique and special. Upon reflection, this is the magic of a night at Miya's with Bun Lai presiding as sorcerer. Goethe once wrote that "one ought, everyday at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and, if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words." Though I feel some trepidation in amending such fine words from such a supremely perceptive man, I dare say that Goethe, if he ever dinned at Miya's, would have included "to eat a lovely meal, and pass time with a beautiful soul," to his requisites for a good day. Not many bring such goodness into the world for others to experience and take into their lives. It is the combination of a rare gift and creative energy. You should know this.

Best Restaurant in Connecticut Miya Japanese restaurant is easily one of the top restaurants in Connecticut. The sushi here is always a special experience for me. Miya's is the anti-Benihana. This is a culinary artist's sanctuary. Every bite here is a true work of art. [05 Sep 2006 03:00:25]

Miya is Amazing!!! The best meal I have ever eaten was at Miya about five years ago. I came to the restaurant with my sister and brother-in-law. We ordered kaiseki dinners; words cannot describe how amazing the dinner was. dish after amazing dish was delivered to our table. I feel privileged to have tasted food that good. I have been many, many times since and have only good things to say. This is truly an amazing restaurant. [03 Mar 2007 17:54:56]
