What a Fiesta! There's a party going on almost every night. This weekend they are celebrating 6 years in business so the party is rockin! We have been here several times and the service is always top notch and the music is great. The strolling Mariachi band is very amusing and really adds to the ambiance of the restaurant. As for the food, tonight our medium steak was cooked well done and was not very tender. The specials and everything else was right on the mark. The drinks were excellent! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Mexican fare. Most dishes are not very spicy, but they will add the heat if you ask them. If it is still not spicy enough, ask for the hot sauce, it is great. [31 May 2002 22:34:55]

Delicious and Fun - you can't beat it The Mexican food is the freshest and best around, and they'll make up dishes upon request. I've heard the American fare is only ok, but if you're here and eating plain old steak you're missing the point. The service is great since they work as a team, just smile and they'll respond. The music is fun and they take requests (fast, slow, love, etc., if you don't know any specific songs.)Don't forget the drinks. They have lots of flavors for margaritas, and they serve lots of non-alcoholic fruity things, too. Most importantly, they serve Dos Equis (good mexican beer) so show up hungry and thirsty and they'll make you happy. If you can manage lunch here it's usually calmer but just as delicious and filling. I always bring some home for the next day.
If your into the crowded party thing- go May 5th and be prepared to stand in the parking lot. [31 Dec 2002 12:33:15]

Greatest Mexican Restaurant EVER!!! Hi all, my Father and I just ate at El Sombrero's tonight, and I can honestly say it was one of the greatest dining experiences I've ever had...When you sit down you immediately are served chips with some DELICIOUS salsa (which is great because I don't know about you but I'm always starving right when I GET to the restaurant and hate waiting even longer to eat!) The wait staff was not only really nice but also unbelievably fast....they were refilling my soda before I even realized it was empty! For an appetizer we split a (alright, I honestly can't remember the name of it, it was the "something vera cruz", it had shrimp and peas in it) and it was phenomenal. I also had a bowl of chili con carne and the sopa de polla, both were incredible. My Father had the number 7 combo and had nothing but great things to say about it. As if this wasn't all enough, what really made it such a great dining experience was the live mariachi band dressed in full uniform walking around the dining room, taking requests! They were really good too, not just a bunch of hacks! Straight up, the next time you feel like Mexican food or you just want a great dining experience, I highly recommend El Sombrero's!
