Fine food, service AND atmosphere
Located in the tiny Still River Plaza in the Burrville section of Torrington,
Elaine's is worth checking out! Though the location is somewhat remote with there being few businesses in the immediate area, it is right on the Winsted Road (between Torrington & Winsted) and close to Route 8. From the outside, you would expect the restaurant's interior to be quite plain like your average take-out pizza place. But in fact, the dining area is very cozy and nicely laid out even including a lovely fireplace. From the fresh calimari appetizer (the BEST we've tasted), to delcious entrees including traditional Italian and some with a creative twist, we've yet to find anything to disappoint us. Priding themselves in using the freshest ingredients, the dining experience at Elaine's is a cut above the rest. Even their 1/2 pound burger is lean and delicious along with their french fries which have the perfect combination of crispness, firmness and flavour. For something special try their Spaghetti with Shrimp entree which features pasta cooked to perfection, a generous amount of large, tender shrimp and an outstanding sauce which is a blend of marinara and alfredo. The service in the several times we've visited has always been attentive and friendly. Also, the prices at Elaine's are reasonable- especially considering the generous portions.
