Italian Hidden Gem Appetizers at Fratelli's are a real treat. At a recent luncheon the fried calamari were a little larger than what I'm used to but they were so tender. The breading was light and tasty with flakes of herbs throughout. As usual the broccoli rabe was excellent. A dining companion said it was the best she'd ever had. There was just enough so it wasn't overwhelming and there wasn't a hint of bitterness to it. For the main meal the grilled tuna was a nice sized portion. The accompanying sauce was light and creamy, yet with a tartness that matched well with the tuna. Other excellent dishes were the shrimp fradiavolo and the shrimp scampi. Both were large bowls of pasta with shrimp. The fradiavolo sauce was spicy, yet not too hot. Another person had the fettuccine alfredo which was in a light creamy sauce. Accompanying the meals is my favorite part of the meal, their italian bread which is warm and soft inside and out. It's perfect for pulling apart and dipping into a blend of olive oil and balsamic vinegar which remain on the tables. The gourmet pizza seems to be made out of the same soft, tasty dough. And, to top off the dish is a beautiful magenta/lavender and white orchid flower head. Service was at a good pace, not rushed. The ambience of the restaurant is small and cozy without feeling like you are sitting on top of each other. The presentation of all the dishes is that of an upscale Italian restaurant yet at a price that's affordable. I also love the fact that they use large wine glasses for the wine. It adds to that upscale feeling. They only take reservations for parties of six or more so be prepared for a wait for dinner at this hidden Italian gem. [21 Mar 2004 13:11:15]

Great Italian food. Probably the best in the Wallingford area. Definitely not your average tomato sauce and pasta place. Casual gourmet. Lot's of great Tuscan recipes. The pizza is awesome as well. A very small dining room so make sure to call ahead for reservations as it can fill up quick. [25 Dec 2004 19:18:07]

Great Food, Great Service, Great Place...Period Restaurants come and go and I hope this one stays. This is my favorite restaurant in Wallingford! Their dine-in food is outstanding. Their Take-out food is awesome...great pizza and the stuffed breads are to die for. [03 Jan 2006 15:33:32]

Reasonable Gourmet Food We have been fans of Fratelli's ever since they opened. For a long time we felt that we had found the best kept secret in Wallingford. From day one, the food has been excellent. The chef and staff have that special touch that makes dining out with authentic Italian cuisine an event to remember. My favorite is the veal piccatta served with a wonderful lemony sauce with capers. The red sauce pasta dishes are wonderful, as are the seafood selections.
The presentation of the dinners is exceptional. We frequently order the Sicilian pizza with the "house works" as a take out on busy weekends. I don't think they reserve for parties less than six, so try this great restaurant on a week night when they are not so busy. The ambiance has improved with the renovations done last year. But, even with the elbow to elbow seating they had when the restaurant first opened, it has been consistently a wonderful place to eat out. [03 Mar 2006 18:04:01]

Check Your Bill This place has terrible service, very plain food and actually puts excessive fees on our bill. [14 May 2006 21:57:14]

Pizza Pizza Pizza The pizza is what I like and the dining experience is good.
Service is ok - maybe can use one or two more waiters - but overall, good.
If anyone has had a bad experience at this place, they were in a bad mood. [18 May 2006 17:03:44]
