Delicious
Beautiful restaurant, great ambience, recently renovated. Plenty of seating area keeps it personal. Very good Italian food, pasta/chicken/seafood dishes. Amazing specialty pizza's and very friendly. Bar was downsized :-( but overall a classy place for Winsted.    [07 Feb 2007 18:29:40]

Bad
I took my girl firend and went to Mario's in Winsted,CT. We were seated by the hostess with menus and then were abandoned. Several waitresses continually walked by our table, not stopping once to pour us a glass of water or offer to get us a drink while we looked over the menu. We sat for twenty minutes being completely ignored. We finally got up and I approaced th hostess. I told her what was going on and that we were leaving and we would never come back to that restaurant. Her response was "oh, where were you sitting?" What does that tell you? I then went to speak to the owner, Mario himself. I told him what had happened and he asked me who the waitress was and I told him it was his entire wait staff that walked by us like we were invisible. I told him we were leaving. He said,I hope you will come back some other time. I said, no I will never come back to his establishment ever again and he said, "well you gotta do what you" gotta do" In my book that's bad business. Never had a bad meal here
The food is always delicious, freshly prepared, whether it's a pizza, sandwich or a full dinner. Atmosphere is relaxed, pleasant & waitstaff is friendly & attentive. Our friends from central CT would rather drive out here (30+ minute drive) for dinner at Mario's than choose one of the many restaurants in their area.    [27 Jan 2008 13:24:12]

Excellent food, ambience and all around experience
I guess the headline says it all. The food is always consistently delicious and the owners friendly. On rare occasion, we have had "newbie" waitresses, but overall, the food is well worth overlooking the "newbieness"!

Best of Everything....
....service, ambiance, selection, portions, dishes. I drive 45 minutes 2-3 times a week to enjoy the pleasant atmosphere at Mario's. The chefs always go out of their way to prepare each meal to order and if they are not crazy-busy are happy to put something together for you at your request. Never a bad meal from a friend
We live local. For anyone that knows Winsted, knows there are many choices for Italian/Pizza. The crew at Mario's treat you like family. The meals are always delish and the variety is amazing.
