Description
Downtown theater diners have another restaurant choice: Bistro d’Oc, which is across the street from Ford’s Theater. Chef Bernard Grenier (who sold La Miche in Bethesda) includes Asian dishes inspired by his Thai-born wife, Thasanee.
Bistro d’OC is named for Languedoc, France, the olive-oil-and-garlic-bathed region of Grenier’s birth.
The menu features items such as cassoulet and confit, Toulouse sausages and frites and almond tarts.

Bistro d'Oc is like a solid B student, likable and reliable and good to know about if you are in the neighborhood or in need of pre-theater sustenance. - Washington Post Magazine, Tom Sietsema, 1 June 2003 - suggest change

Undiscovered Jewel The Bistro d'OC is a godsend in a town where most French cooking is pretentious, overpriced, and at the actual quality of an average brasserie in Paris somewhere near metro Republique. The d'Oc is southern cooking (specifically Languedoc) but not in a restrictive way--they branch out, but they just know there's no place like home.
If you want to just sit at the bar, have a glass of wine and a starter and maybe an espresso, then go home, bistro d'Oc is perfect for that. If you want a four-course dinner with a first-rate, and in some cases hard to find, Languedoc or Provencal wines the d'Oc is perfect for that too.
Some people may feel uncomfortable with the location at 10th and E. They should live a little. The block the d'Oc is in is not yet redeveloped, but the location is just a block and a half from the International Spy Museum and 3 blocks from MCI Center. Go, go now, take the metro to Gallery Place and go. [20 Feb 2004 12:46:08]

The Best Unknown restaurant in DC We eat out A LOT, and if I dont' eat here at least once a week, my life is not complete! This is by far one of DC's best restaurants, and I am baffled as to why it does not make everyone's Top 50 lists...
Unpretentious, with a warm, typically bistro-ish ambience, this lovely eatery never disappoints, from the service to the always interesting and delicious food. Benoit, the son of the chef, makes you feel as if you're family, and one galss of Languedoc red later, you feel like you are in France! Mussels, rosemary roasted chicken, melange salad, steak frites, pepper steak are all favorites, but the Asian influence comes out with such specials as Green Curry. A wide range of daily specials make it easy for anyone to find a meal to suit their tastes. This is hands down my favorite restaurant in DC... [26 Nov 2006 13:18:14]
