Food Great. Service Stinks. Food was amazing, no doubt about it. The service was horrible, both at the bar before being seated and once seated. People with low tollerances for incompetant servers should not go here. However, those with patience and wanting a good meal, look no further. [17 Apr 2004 23:20:08]

Great food, bad service It's unfortunate that such great recipieks are serviced so poorly..
We called 10 minutes in advance and they told us that on this particular night they don't take reservations because of a private party, but we're welcome to come in and, if we come in within the next 20 minutes, they would seat us right in. We were there 10 minutes after the phone conversation with the attendant. (We discovered that Greek place we originally wanted to go to was closed and we eager for some good food, luckily we had our car's Navigation system, which did a quick search).
When we entered, we immediately liked the atmosphere and were a little bit surprised by the absence of any staff. There was a big private party, as I mentioned before, they were busy. We waited for a minute or so and the girl who I spoke to over the phone came up.... and told us that they're closed for the night!! This is right after I spoke to her on the phone and she told us we were welcome to come in!! We wore nice clothing, no jeans or anything. She said that her manager just informed her of this unfortunate fact because everything is full. I asked how long the wait was and she still insisted that they're closed for the night. I asked to speak to whoever is in charge. She came up the stairs to talk to him (30-ish dark haired man) he glanced over at us, did not even make an attempt to smile, and she came back and set us at our table. We came into the upstairs room to find a bunch of empty tables. We found their staff and not being honest with their clients and simply being rude and ignorant. We had to wait for our server for a while (which was ok for a French place). The appetizers were really tasty, but when they ran out of Raspberry martini, they just replaced it very Cranberry without prior notification--just drink up what we got, we don't care--seems to be their motto.
The main course was delicious, too. We thought that such great cooking would make up for such poor service, but here came the bill with extra appetizer item on for, making the bill $22.00 more and we realized that their staff are indeed poorly trained and try to cheat their customers.. We asked them to have the bill corrected, they did. No matter how well they feed you--they will not treat you well.

Chef Riffe Excels On my recent vist to this Washington Bistro, I was overwhelmed by the attention of a relatively new Chef named Riffe. Upon hearing of my unusual alergy, he personnally prepared a delicious meal consisting of a perfectly sauted fish fillet and the Arugula & Walnut Salad with a special dressing since I could not have the seggested ones. This young man is obviously destined for a long successful career. Don't let his youthful appearance fool you. He is beyond his years in expertise! [09 Nov 2005 15:22:45]

Food was Excellent!! Service good!! I started with the Steak tartare which was made table side, little heavy on the Dijon, but really good. My girlfriend started with the goat cheese salad which she loved. I then had the rare hangar steak for dinner which was excellent, mouth watering....Girlfriend had the same and was just as good. We finished with the crepes Suzette made table side also. Wonderful ending to a nice meal.
Service was ok, a little slow, but still ok. [17 Feb 2007 21:37:44]
